The Journey

Roads go ever, ever on
down from the door
where it began.

Now far ahead the road has gone
and I must follow if I can,
pursuing it with weary feat,
untill it meets some larger way,
where many paths and errands meet.

Faith and Fury

But a man may flinch away from evil's embrace, if he is stalwart and girds his soul with the armour of contempt.

Valentine's Day

I'm fortunate enough to spend this weekend away from my place of education, and instead enjoy the company of one of my friends and his family who have been kind enough to offer me their hospitatlity.

I used to not care about Valentine's day. I mean, it was a nice holiday I thought, despite how clouded the original point of it had become by Hallmark and flower shops. Now however, I can see where people come from when they rant about how much they hate the holiday.

Anyone who's been burned will understand. And anyone who understands me will know that it takes a lot to burn me.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

New is Old and Old is New

I went for a swim today. It was the first time I'd jumped in a pool in a while.

Now, I'm not out of shape, not by any means, but wow, swimming really wears you out fast. I was surprsied to find myself getting tired after about 600 yards or so, a big drop since High School.

I did summer swimming for about eight years before I entered High School, in addition to my freshman year. I dropped it after the first season though, as I decided being a three sport athelete was a little tiring.

Still, it felt good to be back in the pool again.
